Founded in April 2018, aeroLiFi GmbH, an independent small company, has established itself as a provider of communication and data transmission systems based on highly innovative core technology: light-based networked communication, which enables wireless data rates at the highest levels as well as controlled and secure connections for a wide variety of applications. aeroLiFi has a focus on the development of high-performance hardware for optical data transmission.
Currently the team consists of eleven experienced employees with mostly relevant Master level or PhD degrees in the fields of electronic hardware and software engineering, embedded systems, and communication technologies.
First products were focused on infrared LED-based point to multi-point systems for indoor applications, reaching data rates of about 200 Mb/s. Over the last three years the company has embarked on projects to continuously increase the data rates in indoor and outdoor applications. These projects range from applications for transportation use cases over aircraft implementations to space infrastructure and will reach data rates between 2.5 Gbit/s up to 1 Tbit/s.
In addition, aeroLiFi has been and is involved in the development of various hybrid (optical/WiFi, optical/5G) demonstrators for various applications like robotics, virtual reality, video streaming, 6G multipath laboratory, etc. Besides the core technologies of data transmission and storage, supporting technologies like acquisition, tracking, and pointing have been developed as part of various programs.
